The Broke Girl’s Guide To Building A Better Body
We all know how important it is to keep our bodies healthy. Whether that’s eating the right foods or staying consistent with a gym routine, working out can get pretty expensive if we’re not smart about it. Our bodies are important to us and we should want the best for them but I also don’t want to pay $150 a month for a gym membership, or give someone $400 a month just to come up with a meal plan and exercise routine for me. Not that this is a bad thing! Personal trainers are great – but for someone who is ballin’ on a budget, I can’t afford that expense right now.
So how do we achieve our fitness goals while simultaneously achieving our savings goals? You’ve come to the right place! Welcome to the broke girl’s guide to working out!
Do Your Research
The internet is a magical tool. Start by doing your research. Read about the human body, learn about the different muscle system, google which exercises are most effective. Start a work out journal. Take notes. This will help get you motivated and will also help you feel less lost when you walk into a gym. (As always, while the internet is full of useful information, there is also a lot of junk. So always check your resources!)
Find Body Weight / Equipment Free Exercises
So you can’t afford a gym membership currently? That’s OK! It’s no excuse not to keep your body in shape. Research body weight exercises and workout from anywhere; at home, at a park, in your office break room, etc. Don’t let not being a part of gym put you off track!
Buy Multi-Purpose Equipment
If you invest in anything, invest in equipment that can be used for more than one exercise. A couple examples would be an exercise ball, which you can use for abs, supporting your body during weight training, and cardio, and a step or a bench, which you can for weight training exercises and cardio. Having just one of these at home can take your in home workout up a level.
Watch Videos on Youtube
Youtube is a great source for finding quick workouts that you can follow along with at home! Find 5 different ones that you enjoy and your week of workouts is set up for you, all for free. It’s magical really and I don’t know why more people don’t grasp on to this.
There are a million ways to get your exercise in just by going outside. Find somewhere to hike, walk around your neighbor, find a park that has exercise equipment and use that! There are no excuses anymore.
Get out there and get fit!
